After nearly four months of work, I’m happy to unveil a newly rebuilt version of this website. When I first launched a public-facing version of my political history database back in 2015, my focus was purely on the data. Especially over the last year and a half, that focus has shifted more and more to the articles.

But because this was originally a database, I realized that I had no navigable archive system built into the site, and old articles were really hard to find without a direct link. This also gave me a chance to finally build a mobile-first site that looks just as good on your phone as it does on your computer.

As I started a new design for a mobile-first website that better highlighted the articles, I also realized that many of the tools could better display data. So I rebuilt every single tool, plus a few new ones, with an eye towards a better graphical display and ease of use.

Over the next week or so, I’ll be putting up regular posts that explain what tools exist and how to use them. In the meantime, I hope you’ll poke around and kick the tires a bit, and send me any feedback that you have.
